OUR STORY

Homemade Local Flavor

After working 25 years in the Information Technology industry, Gary Rhodes decided to mix things up a little bit. Owning an ice cream shop had long been a dream that started with his first job at Swensen's Ice Cream in Montgomery, Alabama. There he started out as a dishwasher and worked his way up to ice cream maker.

Fannie Lou was his maternal grandmother. She had a great love for making and sharing desserts. She always had something ready for whomever might stop by, a pound cake, a cobbler, a brownie, cookies, some sort of crazy Jell-O dessert, or Gary's favorite, tea cakes. In the summer, Gary and his brother would go stay with Fannie Lou and would often make homemade ice cream. The old-fashioned vanilla was great but she liked trying new recipes adding fruits or candies. The end product was always tasty.

Many of our ice creams are inspired by some of Fannie Lou's favorite dessert recipes with others having a Pensacola connection and of course some of your all-time favorites. We do hope you will stop by to try some of Fannie’s favorites but more importantly we hope we can provide a little happiness and joy in your day every time you visit.

We hope to see you soon!

The Creamery

It's what's on the inside that counts

Fannie Lou's ice cream is made right in the store in our small batch creamery. Our dairy ingredients are sourced from Florida producers with flavoring and add-ins being sourced locally when possible. We take great pride in producing unique premium ice cream with locally inspired flavors and some of our favorite Fannie Lou southern dessert recipes. Marshmallow Fudge Brownie anyone?
